Federal officials, religious leaders and members of the media met to discuss extremism in Houston. The forum, part of the Big Talk series hosted by the University of Houston Valenti School of Communication, was organized by a student-led campaign, “Me-to-We: Disagreement Doesn’t Equal Hate.” It is co-sponsored by Valenti and the Borders, Trade, and Immigration Institute, a DHS Center of Excellence based at UH

As a part of the Pew Research Center's Religion & Public Life Project, this interactive site hosts a variety of resources, including but not limited to, current opinion monitoring of violent extremism regarding religion and future estimates regarding demographic distributions. Pew provides the raw data with linkages tied to topics concerning population characteristics, beliefs & practices, culture & society, interfaith relations, politics & government, and restrictions on religion.

This informational page created by the FBI highlights important information regarding countering violent extremism. The site hosts a variety of activities and interactive learning modules to help viewers understand the who, what, where, and why of violent extremism. 


True Islam and the Extremists

Check out an ongoing national campaign that seeks to address misconceptions about the Islamic Faith, by explaining about the core beliefs of Islam to all Americans. This campaign also seeks to counter violent extremism by standing up to radicals that have resulted from inconsistent leadership within the Faith. 


Muslims for life

An annual national event held to honor 9/11 victims through blood donations, based on the Islamic teaching regarding the sanctity of life. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has partnered with the American Red Cross and America's Blood Centers to give back in the shadow of a national tragedy.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is an organization that has continually led the religion in terms of condemning and rejecting terrorism in all forms. They claim that extremists distort Islam and its teachings to enact violence. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community hopes to counter violent extremism by educating the public on the teachings of the Islamic Faith.

heineken's worlds apart ad is SURPRISINGLY relevant

Heineken recently released an ad and we're finding it very relevant to the campaign! This ad shows just how different our opinions/beliefs can be, but that sometimes, if we just get to know one another, we can put our differences aside. Heineken captions this social experiment with a question:
